F. C. Heney, for not attending camp and failiug to attend drill, was fined 10/- on the second charge, the hearing of the first charge being adjourned. A. C. Walls, charged with failing to attend drill, wished to be medically examined, and the hearing was adjourned until August 18 to permit of the examination being made. Roy Ingram, for failing to attend drill, was fined 10/- with costs 7/-. NO LIGHTS. Henry Gilger, for riding a bicycle at night without lights, was fined 5/- and costs. Geo. Murfitt was charged with having stolen, on or about May 15, three fowls, the property of J". W. Bishop Sergeant Mackay conducted the prosecution, find accused was defended by Mr T. Johnston.

On the evidence produced it appeared that Mr Bishop had lost about twentytwo fowls. His wife identified three of these, of which she took possession, on accused's property. The Bench convicted defendant and imposed a fine of 20/-, with costs 12/-. PLOUGHING MATCH ASSOCIATION The North Canterbury Ploughing Match Association held a final meeting this morning, when Mr J. D. Wyllie occupied the chair. There were fourteen members present. The balance-sheet presented showed receipts £lB3 12/-, expenditure £i;s9, leaving a credit balance of £44 12/-. This, with the credit of £l7 C/-, brought down last year made a total of £Ol IS/-, which was considered highly satisfactory. Several new regulations were approved of for future matches, and it was resolved to give- an honorarium of £5 5/-. to Mr B. S. Jordan, in appreciation of his untiring efforts as secretary. Votes of thanks were passed to judges, owners of paddocks, lenders of teams, the donor of the silver cup, and to Mr J. B. Compton, caterer. It was decided to give an extra prize to the youngest ploughman.
