By Cable. — Press Association. — Copyright. (Received July 28, 12.40 p.m.) LONDON, July 27. Paddon is improving. His staleness has almost disappeared. Accompanied by Kemp, he sculled eight miles. Over the last four he did h&rd, solid work on low water. Paddon does" not shape comfortably on the top tide, but hopes to remedy this Avith the r.c-w boat, which will be r ready next week. Barry is in strict training, and is well and fit. George Towns has invited Barry to compete in big handicaps in Australia. If he goes, Barry will not row for the championship title.

WEBB-HANNAN PROPOSITION.
Press Association. WANGANUI, July 28. In reference to the challenge issued by Hannan to row Webb for the championship of New Zealand and £IOO aside, Webb announces that he is* too busy to make a match for less than £2OO aside. The smaller stake would mean a loss financially, even if he were victorious.
