The annual conference of the New < Zealand Boxing Association wa# held 1 to-day. Resolutions were carried as follow: — "That three-minute bouts in minor events are too protracted." "That the delegates to the Australian Conference be instructed to vote for readjustment of weights, and that the weights now covering professional contests be adopted for all amateur competitions." 4 'That.the conference ask the council to set up a committee to collect information and formulate a scheme for the . creation of a commission with legal re-1 cognition to control boxing, and submit a report to the various associations." "That travelling expenses be paid to judges and referees who are appointed to act at championship meetings." "That the Selection Committee to select teams to represent New Zealand at the Australasian championship meeting shall consist of the referee and one of the judges acting at the current New Zealand championship meeting, together with a representative of the council attending the meeting." A remit regarding direct representation on the governing body of the association was turned down. It was resolved to recommend the holding of the next championship meeting at Gveymouth, and that the annual championships should be held alternately in the North and South Islands.

It was resolved that a rule should be inserted in the Rule Book to the effect that in the case ol ! professional contests it should be unlawful to give any appearance-mouey —viz., win, lose, or draw, —and that no centre should be allowed to hold more than four professional contests in each year, this not to apply to associations which have professional contests already in hand. The conference adjourned discussion on a proposal that professional boxers should be compelled to go ipto the ring even should an opponent, be half a pound over the weight stipulated in the agreement.
