SAILORS' SOCIETY.
GENEROUS DONATION.
The usual monthly meeting of the Board of Directors of the Sailors' Society was held at the institute last night, when the president (Mr M. J. Millar) occupied the chair) and there was a full attendance of members. After considerable discussion it was resolved that in order to provide more accommodation for the men, and also improved building accommodation for the superintendent, it would be- advisable to roof in the present flat roof, which would pennit of room being provided downstairs for lockers for the of men desiring to leave their goods in charge of the superintendent. The monthly report showed that over 500 seamen had made use of the facilities of the institute/ while the officers' quarters were rapidly increasing in popularity. It was also announced that Messrs Webley, Sons and Gofton had donated $ piano for the ;. ; rbom,t aind it. was resolved that a hearty vote of f Oi the jfuJm for their magnificent gift/' on'e that is much appreciated by. seamen.
