In the Assembly, on the motion of Mr Giblin (Labour), it was unauiinously resolved that, as a result of the decision of the Imperial authorities regarding the recent constitutional difficulty, it was hoped the Governor would not feel bound by any precedent to sever his connection with Tasmania.
. The resolution was presented to Sir W. Ellison-Macartney.
[The Governor, Sir W. Ellison-Mac-artney, refused a dissolution to the Solomon Ministry when the secession ot Mr Whitsitt placed the party m a minority. The Labour leader, Mr Earle, was sent for, and, having formed a Ministry, informed the House that the Governor had imposed the conditions of ,ah immediate dissolution and the summoning of the new Parliament before May. Prior to forming his Ministry Mr'Earle ac cepted these conditions, but when the House met he took the opportunity of protesting against them and repudiating them.,, Tlie Right' Hon. Lewis Hareo\xrt's* decision on £he constitution question which precipitated the recent -crisis, declared that the Governor had no power to impose conditions in regard to a dissolution, and that he must always act on Ministerial advice.]
