It is reported that "Dick" Arnst is TCAlly serious in his intention to make another effort to win back the sculling championship of the world. Arnst is now in the country" ofSouth Wales, felling timber and doing other strenuous work to harden himself before he takes to the water again. He intends to recommence rowing on the Parramatta River shortly. Frank de Beaurepaire, the Australian, middle and long-distance amateur swim- J roing champion of a few years ago, has not yet given up all hope of again com- j peting in amateur races. If, however, the Amateur Swimming Federation is adamant in its decision as to his status, ie will have no objection to meeting Oscar Diekman, the North Sydney crack, for the Australian professional title. If successful with Diekman a match -with Dave Billington, of Eng--land, for the championship of the world, i» not unlikely.
