The Turakina leaves Napier to-night for Auckland. 1 It is expected that the Arawa will bo leaving Wellington to-morrow for Lyttelton, and she should consequently be here on Wednesday. From August 1 the colour of the light on the Takapuna wha£f, in Rangitoto Channel, Auckland, will be changed from a fixed white to a fixed red light. The change has been , sanctioned by the Minister of Marine. As the Wellington-Wanganui Steam Packet Company's Huia is about due for overhaul, it is proposed to recommission the small steamer Manaroa. She will be temporarily engaged in the Huia's running. The Shaw, Savill, and Albion'liner Zealandic, which arrived at London on Thursday from New Zealand, leaves Liverpool again on August 25. A wireless message received on Saturday 7 morning by the head office of the Shaw, ; Savill, and Albion Company at Wellington i stated that the Waimana, which left Auckland at noon on Friday, expected to reach Wellington to-morrow afternoon. The "Waimana left, London on June 5. It is announced that the A. and A. chartered steamer Franklyn, which arrived' at Auckland on Friday afternoon from New York, via Sydney, is to make a call at Napier before coming on to Wellington, where 1 she is expected on Wednesday next.' ' Mr O. C. Muller, second officer of the Alexander, has signed off the vessel's articles. Mr H. Clayden, formerly second officer of the Aorangi, now occupies a similar position on the Moana in place of Mr W. Rogers, who has resigned from the Union Company's servlcfe. Mr J. No tidings as yet have been, received of the fishing ketch Fannie,. which left Ijy-ttel-ton on Sunday, July 12, for -the Chathams, having the launch Te Rino under convoy. It was thought that the Himitangi, which arrived at port yesterday morning, might have brought some news of the two vessels, but the officers reported that though a sharp look-out had been kept, no sign of them had been detected. No disquietude is felt on that account, however, as it is. probable that the boats have been blown off the usual track, and will probably take some time yet to reach the Islands. The Fannie, especially, is regarded as a splendid seaboat.

The force of the recent bad weather was fully felt by the steamer Kimitangi, which arrived at Lyttelton from Waitangi yesterday morning. The Himitangi left for Waitangi on July 1 from Lyttelton, reaching her destination on Saturday morning, July 4. Whangaroa, Kaingaroa, Owenga, and Pitt Island were visited to pick up a quantity of frozen fish and aiso a number of sheep and cattle. An attempt was mado to got away for Lyttelton on Tuesday, July 14, but the tempestuous weather made progress impossible. It was not until 4.30 a.m. on July 16 that the weather moderated sufficiently to allow of another attempt. Shortly after leaving Waitangi more bad weather was experienced, but his fortunately was not of long duration. On the way across a large school of blackfish was seen heading eastward, and on Friday the lonic, bound for London, was also espied.
