I Captain Robinson arrived from the | north yesterday. 1 Sir George Clifford returned from Wellington yesterday. Mr Albert. Kayo returned to Christchurch from Wellington on Saturday. Mr R. English was among the passengers from the north by the Maori yesterday. Mr J. C. N. Grigg came south by the Maori from Wellington yesterday morning. Dr and Mrs Gibson arrived in Lytteiton by the Himitangi yesterday morning. Dr Chessou, who has been on a visit to the Chatham Islands, returned by the Himitangi yesterday morning. The Mayor of Ashburton (Mr H. Davis) was a passenger by the Maitai from Wellington on Saturday. Madame T. Billings, of Paris, is at present, on a visit to Christchurch, and is staying at Warner's Hotel. Among the guests at (Joker's Hotel are Mr Alexander Montgomery (Glasgow) and Mr T. Wingfield (Auckland). Mr H. L. Michel, of Hokitika, is at present on a visit to Christchurch, and is staying at the Clarendon Hotel. The Rev. and Mrs Davis,* of Hampden (Otago) arrived in Christchurch yesterday and are staying at Warner's Hotel. Brigadier Hoare, New Zealand secretary for the Salvation Army, arrived in Christchurch from Wellington on Saturday. The Hon. "R. Moore, M.L.C., and Mr T. H. Davey, M.P., arrived in Christchurch from Wellington on Saturdiv morning. Mr C. S. Howell, who is at present on a visit to Great Britain, intends to leave on his return to the Dominion in September. Mr E. L. Chatwin, representing the Chatham Islands Fishing Company, arrived from the Chatham Islands by the Himitangi yesterday morning. Mr ,1. Harrison Jones (Dunedin), Mr S. Mayer (Dunedin), and Mr A. W. Rutherford,- jiin. (Brookdale) are staying at the United Service Hotel. Mr Chas, C. Reade (London), organ-iser'foM-he Australasian Town Planning Tour, is staying at Warner's Hotel. He is accompanie'd by Mrs Reade. The delegates from the Garden Cities and Town Planning Association, Messrs W. R. Davidge and C. 0. Reade, arrived in Christchurch yesterday. Mr W. Johnstone (Hawke's Bay), Mr J. Hugh Elisor (Rakahuri), Mr C. J. Gaston (Sydney), ami Mr Ed. P. £<antlebury are staying at Warner's Hotel.
Dr and Mrs Thomas, of Timaru, who have been visiting Christclmrch and who have beeu staying at Coker's Hotel, left for the south by the second ( •.press this morning. The Mayor of Christchurch (Mr H. Holland) arrived home by yesterday morning's ferry steamer from Wellington, where lie had been attending the Municipal Conference. Among the arrivals by the Maori yesterday were Messrs H. Hunter and F. E. Ellis, who have, been attending the conference of arbitration unions and the Social-Democratic Party in Wellington. Mr Justice Sim will arrive by the second ■ express this evening from the south, and. will resume the Supreme Court sittings to-morrow at 10J-S0 a.m. His Honour will be staying at the Christchurch Club. Among the guests at the Clarendon Hotel are Mr E. .1. Armstrong (Duncdin), Mr W. H. Bowater (Westport), Mr D. Muir (Dunedin), Mr W. J. Gore (Dunedin), Mr W. Ha/.lett (Invercar : gill), Mr J. M. Muir (Wellington), and Mr I), d. Evans (Hokitika). The Rev. Alexander Rdese and Mrs Reoac, who have been in the mission lieid in Brazil for 1 the last six years, 1 ('.presenting the North American Presbyterian Church, arrived in Christchurch on Saturday. They are on six months' furlough, and will remain in ( hristchurch until the end of the year.
