A gas inspector forced his way into a house at Oran, and there found the bodies of Gouze, of the Foreign Legion, his tvife and their three children, all shot. In the same room was a note on a table, which read: — In a dream I saw my wife and children on the point of being captured by Moroccans. I awoke. The horrible deed is done. Pray for us. Beside Captain Gouze was lying a Browning revolver, with the five chambers emptied;
