WOMAN SHOT DEAD. A MYSTERIOUS CRIME. By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright. SYDNEY, July 15. A mysterious tragedy occurred, at Mcßean'-s station, near Yass, a young woman employee named Gertie McAlister being found shot dead in the kitehen. Shortly before the discovery of the body , she was seen attending to her duties. There is no clue to the perpetrator of the crime. NO LOVERS; NO ENEMIES. EVIDENCE AT THE INQUEST.' (Received July 16, 9.50 a.m.) SYDNEY, July 16. At the inquest on Gertie Macalister, her father gave evidence that his daughter had no lovers, or no enemies. Mr Meßean stated that he saw the deceased alive at 6.30, and at 8.30 he heard two gun shots. He rushed into the kitchen, and found the girl lying on the floor, lifeless. The doctor's opinion was that the shots were fired from the back, and that it would be impossible for the wounds to be self-inflicted.
It is. believed that the girl was murdered, but there is no clue. The inquest has been adjourned.
