MUNICIPAL CONFERENCE.
REMITS CARRIED. Press Association. WELLINGTON, July 14. At the conference the following remits were carried: — "That the district electors' list shall be made up on or before January 15, instead of February 15, as at present.' '• "That applications for enrolment on the supplementary district tlectors' roll shall close on March 31, after which no claim is to be received." Others carried included the following:—From Wanganui: "That councils be empowered to manufacture and sell bricks." From Pukekohe: "That the Government be asked to consider the question of establishing State quarries and linking them with the main railway lines, so that local bodies may be enabled to get road metal at first cost." From Palmerston North: "That legislation be introduced to prevent the Government from erecting hoardings facing a public street within a city or borough, also empowering the local authority to prohibit the erection of private hoardings in a city or borough.'' From Birkenhead: "That local authorities ' powers be extended to enable them to subsidise private passenger or goods transport services.''
