MEETING OF THE COMMITTEE.

The committee of the Canterbury Rwgfvy Union met last evening, Mr F. J. Evans presiding. There were also present: —Messrs W. J. Morgan, C. Buchanan, A. M 'Phail, L. Corbett, S. F. Wilson, C. Hasell, E. E. Crawshaw, C. Evans, A. H. Baker, F. D. Kesteven, A. C. Byrne, and C. W. Hervey (secretary). A lengthy discussion took place regarding the application by the Ladies' Hockey Association for the use of Lancaster Park. for the purpose of the representative ladies' hockey match against the English touring teajn on September 12. At a previous meeting a sub committee had been set up to report on the matter, but was unable to report any definite settlement. The subject was referred back to the subcommittee to confer with the committee of the Ladies' Hockey Association. The North Canterbury Public Schools Association notified that the annual representative match between the North and South I'anterbury boys .had been fixed for August S. !t was decided that the boys be allowed the south orouiid on Lancaster Park. the use of the oval for a curtain-raiser against a local team on August 8. The New Zealand Rugby Union notified that it could not recognise an account 7/6, for gloves supplied to players in the North v. South Island match.

We would get nobody on the park. We will not be giving anything away." A member: "What ground?" Mr Wilson: "The oval, terms to bo arranged." .

Mr Baker: "I think we should box them on the questioif' of terms. We should look out for ourselves first. We do not want to be antagonistic to them." •

Mr Kesteven: 11 We cannot give them the same terms as last year." The motion was carried, and it was decided to offer the association twothirds of the net takings, the charges to bo the same as those for cup matches.

"I do not thi\k they will accept it, at any rate,'' commented the chairman.
