ST. ALBANS LIBRARY.
n The forty-sixth annual general meeting of members of the St. Albans Library was held in the Library Hall on Monday, Mr A. Pearsbu, vice-presi-dent, presiding over a fair muster of subscribers.
Mr H. Powell presented the committee's repbrt and balance-sheet, and congratulated the members on the healthy state of the finance. There was a credit state of the finances. There was a credit
The committee reported that the negotiations with the council re taking over the library were about to be brought to a successful conclusion. The billiards tournament was in its final stages, and they hoped to start a cribbage tournament at an early date.
The election of officers resulted 1 as follows: —President, Mr A. Pearson; vice-president, Mr S. Knight; secretary, Mr H. Powell; treasurer, Mr J. Jowsey; librarian, Mr A. Knight; Committee of Management, Messrs J. Hathany, J. Beanland, B.'Moon,; A. Soams, A. Yincent, J. I)ixey; honorary presidents, Mr H. Holland, L. M. Isitt, M.P., G. Capper, and A, S. Taylor; auditors, Messrs F. Campbell and A. Webster.
The Usual honorarium to the secretary and treasurer was voted.
