Within- the past few days there has If been £l fair export of oats consequent g upon the cheapening of freights, espep - eially from Southland. .As the loeal demand has been very slack of late ipi" 1 the exportation has not had any apprep criative- effect upon- prices. The seed I* season is-now only a few weeks-off, so a demand for seed lines may be exS'' pected. . jf. and- quotations are nominal. Prime milling" is quoted at 3/3, with other : " lines at relative rates'. ? CHAFF. y-- The; enquiry for chaff is particularly small for this season of the year, and x 55/- per ton at handy stations is pracj tically all' that can be obtained for prime oat sheaf.
I POTATOES^ p- The potato market is in a somewhat $ peculiar position. Northern buyers are waiting for a drop in prices which i tfiey seem to anticipate. On the other _ Hand' growers are reluctant to accept V under £3 per ton. The average price y ruling of late would be about 55/-, but not much business has been done. If [!* a merchant had to buy any quantity he would probably have to pay the higher v fignre. I ONIONS, i A fair demand exists for onions at \ from £3 5/- to £4. ■ GRASS SEED, j - Ryegrass is from 2/3 to 2/6, and in- - feribr quality ranges from 1/6 to 1/9. * White-clover is worth 9d to lOd, and ; f "cowgrass 7d to 7sd. f / OTHER LINES. X Linseed is worth from £9 to £9 5/-. No. 1 Partridge peas are quoted at tip tor 4/6; being very scarce, and other " lines are in proportion. Prussians, s realise from 3/- to 3/3, and Imperials * " 3/- to 3/6. Beans, are at 2/10. Bras is quoted at £4 5/- per ton, and e pollard £6. Oatmeal £l2 per ton.
