MINING AT WAIHI.
AN IMPORTANT PROPOSAL. Press Association WAIKI, July 14. Mr J. W. Walker, reeently returned from London, lias arrived at Waihi. O* being interviewed he outlined an important mining scheme for prospecting the Wailii field. He proposes, if certain concessions are granted by the Mines Department, to drive a tunnel from the sea* coast to Waihi, a distance of five or six miles, with numerous crosscuts. He is to lay the scheme before the Borough Council, the Miners' Union, and thf public, with a view to co-operation. Hrc is assured of abundant British if the mining concessions are granted. .
