She rescued the captain, oight of the crew, and two babies, the children of the captain of the wrecked schooner Mokonies, who were marooned for five months on Clappertou Island, off the Mexican coast.

Food ran low, and so three of the crew started for the mainland, arriving after 17 days of great suffering owing to shortness of food and water. The cruiser Cleveland rescued the party, and transferred them to the City of Sydney.
