TWO DEATHS.
WOMAN SHOOTS HERSELF.
A TEMPLETON SENSATION.
Emily Manson, aged 54 years, who resided with her husband and family at Templeton, committed suicide yesterday afternoon toy shooting herself with a revolver. The deceased, who had been in ill-health for some time, had been depressed, but her state of health was not such as to cause any great anxiety. Shortly after 1 p.m. yesterday Mrs Manson went to her bedroom, and a few minutes later the family were startled by the report of a revolver. Investigation showed that she had shot herself and had died almost immediately. THE INQUEST.
At the inquest held this morning by Mr H. W. Bishop, S.M., a verdict of death by suicide whilst in a state of unsound mind was returned. Hugh Manson, roadman for the Paparoa County, and husband of deceased, said she had had nervous attacks since October, 1912. , She would be better dead, she often said. He knew of no cause for the act, save, for the fact that she was in ill-health, deceased had lost a daughter recently. Dr Guthrie gave evidence as to the mental state of deceased. She was very depressed and in a condition that would not allow her to take a very sound view of matters. Witness had told the family to be careful with deceased. HEART FAILURE. William Woolley, aged 67 years, who resided at No. 58 Salisbury Street, died suddenly from heart failure ou Saturday afternoon. A boy was passing a vacant section in Longfellow Street when he saw deceased lying on his back. He went in and found him still alive, but Woolley died almost immediately. The boy called for assistance, but it was too late, and the body was removed to the morgue. At the inquest, held by Mr H. W. Bishop, S.M., on Saturday evening, it appeared that deceased had gone to Sydenham to do some ploughing. He had been unwell of late, and had indicated that he suffered from heart trouble. Ho had had a bad turn about a fortuight ago, when lie had nearly collapsed. A verdict was returned that deceased died from cardiac syncope.
