FIRE ON THE MAORI.
OUTBREAK IN THE PAN BOOM. About 9..'»0 o'clock this morning an incipient fire was discovered-in the fan room of the ferry steamer Maori. The alarm was given, and the stewards ' department promptly extinguished the flames.
The cause of the outbreak is said to be due to some smouldering soot catchiug fire, for when the fan room door was opened the room was full of dense smoke.
No damage was done to the room, but the fan ami several tubes were buckled and will require replacing.
