At the Peace Centenary ball, there was a representation of Columbus with two captains standing on the poop oi the Santa Maria watching a procession of Indians, Pilgrim Fathers, Quakers, and French and Dutch pioneers. A second procession th« English-speaking peoples of the earth, and included Australia, arranged by Lady Reid, in which Dr Mawson and other native-born Australians participated.

ELABORATE COLOUR SCHEME.
The"peace centenary ball at the Albert Hall was ■ a brilliant spectacle. There were wonderful costumes and an. elaborate, red, white and blue colour scheme. A New Zealand party, arranged 1 >y Miss Mackenzie, included the Maori chiefs at present visiting. England.

COMPULSORY SERVICE CONDEMNED.
(Received June-12,.8.20 a.m.)' " ; % ( LONDON, June 11. The Peace Congress, sitting at Liverpool, condemned the compulsory service sytems of New Zealand and Australia, and passed a resolution in support of those who are struggling for thfe repeal .' of the compulsory system in Australia.
