NEW ZEALAND ASSOCIATION. Press Association. WELLINGTON, June 8. At the annual meeting of the New Zealand Chess Association to-njght the report and balance-sheet were' adopted. A letter was received from M. Boris Kostic, the Roumanian champion, described as one of the most promising of the younger masters of Europe, asking the prospects of a New Zealand visit, and giving, the terms upon which he would accept an invitation. It was decided to reply that the association regretted it could not accept the proposal of a visit on the terms offered.
The following officers were elected: — Patron, his Excellency the Governor; president, the Mayor of Christehurch; vice-presidents, Messrs Little, Grierson, and Sainsbury (northern division of North Island), Dalrymple, Pleasants, and F. Kummer (southern division of the North Island),, R. A. Joseph, F. Dodds, and A. Deck (northern division of South Island), and G. Brown, P. M'Laurin, and O. Balk (southern division of South Island) ; honorary tary and treasurer, Mr A. Fell (reelected) ; auditor, Mr W. Mackay (reelected) ; adjudication board, Messrs J. C. Grierson, A. W. O. Davis, and J. Miles (Auckland), P. J. Barnes, W. E. Mason, and P. Still (Wellington), W. H. Lund and R. Lovell Smith (Canterbury), and R. A. Clelland, A. Mellor, and O. Balk (Otago).
It was resolved that the New Zealand Championship Congress should be hold this year at Christehurch during the Christinas holidays.
