Eai'ly this morning the watchman heard someone moving about inside the building. He fastened the door and went to obtain assistance, but had only proceeded a few yards when a map, who was evidently watching his rhovjenieiite; ' fifed a revolver. The bullet passed through, the watchronr. 's che<?k and struck a second man standing on the footpath, knocking out three of his teeth. ; The watchman fired three shots at his assailant,- who succeeded in escaping. ; : Meanwhile the safe-breaker locked inside thei building, becoming alarmed at the firing, broke a fanlight and reached the tyack of the building, where he. descended a fire escape and got away. ; Bxjjlosives were found in tb'e 'key : hole of the safe* _
