ASHBURTON ». SHIRLEY. The following are the l-esulta of the "golf match played between Ashburton and Shirley at Shirley links this - morning, Ashburton players -being mentioned first:- - - - Macfarlane lost; to Trolove, Mortimer last to Douglas, D. Wood lost to Wratt, Denham beat Knight, Denshire beat Rhodes, Buchanan lost to O. Wood, Finlay lost to Ward, Norton lost to Purchas, Greenwood lost : to Bryden, Friedlander lost to Todhunter, Robertson lost to Matson, Cooke lost to Smith. Owing to the wet weather, the afternoon play had to be abandoned. LYTTELTON. The golf at Charteris Bay was abandoned in consequence of the bad weather. The games were hot played out.
