All players must be on the. ground at 9.30 i a.m. to meet the selectors and select captains. : The personnel of the representative teams chosen to meet South Canterbury and Ashburton respectively on Wednes : day next has caused much surprise. But nevertheless the selectors have chosen good-all-round teams. In the A team the selection of Berry was unexpected. Few had taken the trouble to select the B team for theniselves, "°out neverthe : less, thck, team selected is one which few could have prophesied, four members of the B team wiil don the red and black jersey for the first time. Of the team - which defeated Soifth Canterbury twelve months ago, there are only three in this year,'s team. The names are Bellamy, Hulbert, and Throp.

From the club standpoint the selection is almost as representative as possible. The. only clubs not represented are those playing first-grade hockey for the first year.

A good defensive player, "especially on a wet ground. Lacks a little in attack; a fast ground troubles him. R. Parton (U.R.C.).—Cehtre half. A brilliant all-round "half, is at the top of his form--just now, an ex-Wellingfoii representative. F. Sepie (Addington).—Left half. A good tackier, a trille slow, but uses his head when passing. . F. Hutchings (Christclmrch).—jßiglit wing. Has been playing inside light this season, but is better on the vping; liable to wait, too long before pasjsing, a fair shot. Skipper of Christchureh. R. G.
