TATTERSALLS' HORSE SALE.

j Reporting upon their horse sale on j Saturday last, Messrs H. Matson and Co. ! rtate that about 6;1 horses came for- | ward, including some useful draught I geldings. The balance of the entry were iof a nondescript character, and on a ! dull market such as at the present time, { anything, unless it is first-class, is al- | most unsaleable ami only results in inj tennittent sales. The only class of horse I.that can absolutely be sure of finding a ! regular customer is a four-year-old I draught mare or gelding. Immediately i you either go below or above it you | have to face irregularity and disapi pointment. In the face of the farming ! difficulties, the fact that winter is comting on, etc., it is-really marvellous the number of horses that have been sold, and the way this market has kept. We find upon visits to other sales in other districts that, bad and all as our market is, its reliability and consistency as regards the quantity of sales and the basis of values compares more than ■favourably. Vendors, when sending forward ; horses, should always notify a week bej fore, and have the«i advertised, if they | are reliable and good. Buyers then know ! what is coming in. Frequently, vendors j omit to do this. A good horse conies j down, and in all probability a sure pur- | chaser who would buy him is not in at- ! tendance, and the result is two disapj pointnients. j The market at the present state is j that anyone who has a good horse for j sale has a difficulty to sell him. Anyone who wants tobbur3 r a good horse has ! a difficulty to procure him. S
