CARE OF CHILDREN.
Mrs J. M'Combs presided at a general meeting of the Christchurch Women's Christian Temperance Union, held 011 Wednesday. It was decided tq.hold the suburban meeting on the fourth Wednesday in May in the Limvood Baptist Church. .Mrs J. M-'Combs was appointed to represent the iinion on the "Opeii Air Home" for Children Committee. An address on "Cottage Homes" was given by Mrs Ada Wells. Tlie speaker advocated the establishment of cottage homes instead of the present unsatisfactory system of boarding out. In the cottage home the children, w ; ho were "either illegitimate,• orphans, -or Children o'f irresponsible parents, would receive the especially undivided attention and care which was necessary, and tv'hich could not 6e ;giveu by a, "foster iiiother. If the BResponsible parents* would not work, then tliey should be made to work on farms established by the State.
