BIG LOAN PROPOSALS.
TOR WELLINGTON CITY. Press Association. WELLINGTON, May. 6. Speaking at the installation ceremony to-day, the Mayor, Mr J. P. Luke, foreshadowed big loan proposals for various works spreading over a number of yean. The total amount involved was > over £300,000. Of this £220,000 is estimated to be required for general w7>rks, including the traffic tunnel to Hataitai £70,000, wood blocking £61,000, and the balance for the suburban street improvements, parks and baths. A tramway loan of £96,000 is required for various duplications and the extensions of tracks, new cars and sheds. Special expenditure out of revenue on tramways and motorbuses amounting to £21,000, is contemplated.
