PRISONER TAKES POISON.
A CONSTABLE'S PROMPTITUDE. Press Association. DUNEDIN, May 7. Christopher Bobinson, aged 28, a married man, when on the point of arrest by Constable Harvey, of Warepa, yesterday, 011 a charge of forging a,£so cheque, swallowed the contents of a bottle of poison. The constable hastily bundled the man into a trap and drove at a mail gallop to the nearest farmhouse, a mile distant. He forced emetics , upon his prisoner, and kept this going till a doctor arrived, who gave prompt attention. The action of the constable saved the man's life.
