As he complied with her request she fatally shot him with a revolver in the darkness. She previously wrote telling her mother of her intention to commit the crime, adding: "The courts deal lightly with girls who shoot their faithless lovers.'' The jury acquitted her and the crowds inside and outside the court cheered the verdict loudly.
