BELFAST FREEZING WORKS.
HANDLING FARMERS' SHEEP. At the last meeting of the Oxford branch of the Farmers' Union a member 'made some rather startling allegations as to the methods of freezing companies in killing sheep sent forward on farmers' account. He stated they were not killed in separate lines, but were pooled, and that any attempt at giving farmers their own sheep was a farce. The gentleman making the statement had no experience offending sheep forward in this manner. The meeting decided to investigate the matter, and accordingly a deputation consisting of Messrs J. O 'Halloran, Henderson, Cooper and Parish visited the Belfast freezing works yesterday, and were conducted 'over the whole of the works by Messrs W. L. Macßeth, secretary of the company, and Mr A. P. Hopkins, the works manager. Every opportunity was given the visitors to thoroughly study the methods of handling sheep, and they T/ent away fully satisfied that the interests of farmers were completely safeguarded in all the operations, and that individual farmers' lots were kept intact.
