ADDINGTON MARKETS.

THE CONCLUSION. The sale at the metropolitan market yesterday was continued after THE BUN went to press. The" only noteworthy change was a slackening off in the price of fat sheep, of which there wast an over-supply. STORE CATTLE. The store cattle submitted were a Tery mediocre lot, and competition lacked spirit. A couple of useful lines of steers were penned, and brought good values. Dairy cows were also on the poor side, though the demand was good. The values were as follow: Yearlings £1 17/6. . Fifteen to 18-month cattle £3 2/6. Two-year heifers £3 5/-. Two and a-half-yerti* steers £5 5/-. Three-year hejfers |£s 5/ Three-year steers—l.o at £6, 58 at £6 «/-. Dry cows £1 to £4 15/-. Dairy l cows £3 8/- to £ll 2/6. Extra £ll 15/-. FAT SHEEP. It was 6 o'clock yesterday before the last lot of fat sheep were sold —long after dark. The management of the yards would be well advised to make a change in the system of selling, by fixing the commencement of fat lamb sale for a much earlier hour, and rigidly enforcing a time limit upon the salesmen. Then the sheep sale could follow the lambs. This would only be necessary for the next few weeks, when it is only "reasonable to expect that the sales of both fat lambs and fat sheep "will decrease , considerably. The sale opened fairly well, but only held strongly until the . first race "was finished, when a strong ..decline was aoticea'ble for all but first quality stuff. There were a lot of unfinished ewes yenned, and many of the wethets could lave been much improved had the jgrowers possessed the feed. This fact so doubt, accounted for their presence in the sale pens. Exporters operated fairly freely, but the number of firms ' "who handle third quality freezers is limited, and this fact was nbticeable by the number of pens which'went at prices from 12/ : to 14/-. Local' butch ers secured mbre than their "usual'number on account of the weaker prices.' There 1 was an absence of extra prime ■wethers, and* the best price of the day for this class was secured by v Messrs Bros., of Cust. A miagnificent line of ewes sent forward "by Mr A. ©rr, of Methven, went over this figure, the tops of the draft realising 3d more, the line of 111 selling from 21/3 to 24/3. There were several other pens over

22/6, but many wethers Went under £1 — quite unusual at recent sales. The range ©f values was as follows: Prime wethers, 20/- to 22/6. N Extra, to 24/-. Others, 16/6 to "19/6. Prime ewes,-17/6 to 21/-. Extra, to 24/3. Medium, 15/- to 17/-. "Aged : tod light, 11/-to'it : 4/6. ; The average price per lb was as foliews:—
