A number of members of the House of Commons were present at the ter centenary celebrations at St Margaret's, Westminster. Canon Carnegie, who preached, pointed out that there was a significant rift between the Church and the work ing classes, whose leaders tacitly as sumed thivt organised Christianity and organised Democracy moved in different planes. It was the most alarming fea ture of English life.
