BIBLE CLASS CAMP.
CONFERENCE AT PAPANUI. At the Bible Class camp g.t Papanui on Sunday evening the Rev. G. H. M'Neur, the pioneer missionary of the New Zealand Presbyterian 'Church to the Canton villages in China gave an address on "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life." The Rev. T. Miller conducted the devotional rr-eetijig yesterday, speaking on " The Holy Spiri: Our Life and Strength." ~.. ' A number of subjects were dealt with by a mass meeting, presided over by Mr G. A. Troup, of Wellington. Interesting addresses were given by Messrs T. B. Barton, travelling secretary, who spoke on "The Leader who. is not heading for the Ditch," and J. H. . Gear (Dunedin), who tobk for his subject ' 1 The Secretary whom] ho Class would Sack." A paper was road prepared by Mr J. Ramsay, of , Auckland, dealing with the work of various committees. Mr J. Orr (Wellington) spoke on "The District Representative who makes Ordinary Opportunities Great," and Mr W. Bennett (Wellington) on "Things Every Member can Do." It was decided that the headquarters of the executive be again situated at Christchurch.
The "Outlook" agreed to tlie terms suggested for the publication of a monthly illustrated supplement for the Bible Class Union. A special -Illustrated camp supplement will appear in the Outlook of May 12. The following alterations wore agreed to, and will apply to future gatherings: —(1) Junior events to be run before senior, events; (2) junior swim and three-mile race to be omitted; (3) throwing the cricket ball to be added; (4) spectacular events may be added, but points for these contests not to count for the banner; (5) that registered campers only should be eligible to compete. The executive will report to the next conference on the proposal that a separate banner should be provided for the juniors. It was urged upon members who could attend one gathering only that 1.1; ey should give first claim to the Easter camp, which is the official gathering of the union. Members-were recommended to join the International Bible Union and adopt its "Study Notes." Mr J. C. Hay was re-elected president for the ensuing year, Messrs A. M. Wright and C. A. Lyons vice-presidents, and Mr G. M. Pettinger secretary.
A hockey match, Canterbury v. Rest of New Zealand, played yesterday morning, resulted in a win for Canterbury by two goals to one.
