Dr Alexis Carrel described .his latest surgical experiments before the American Surgical' Association.' He clamped the pedicle of the heart of an animal and stopped circulation'for three minutes while he performed a rapid operation upon the aorta. He then allowed the circulation to resume. The operation was successful.
Dr -Carrel says he thinks" that 'dn operation of a similar character on human beings is quite possible! as a cure for valvular diseases of the heart.
