FARM NOTES.

The annual meeting of the Canter- 1 Irary A. and P. Association will «be held «)n Thursday evening next} the, first day the Ram Fair. . ~ * The schedule of the Oxford A. and IP. Association, which has been issued, covers; a wide range of exhibits, from- ' ttiraught horses to oil paintings, and several very valuable special prizes and s£ups are offered for competition. The show will be held on Wednesday, #k.pril 1. It is somewhat unfortunate Ithat Shows in/close proximity to Christ«3Wurch are held on the same day as the aldington sale. This must affect the attendance at the show considerably. A. Dublin agricultural journal reports the commencement of a direct trade svith American ports by Irish stock preeders. Hitherto all stock have gone , yia England, and the various diseases " *rom which England suffered affected r , the trade considerably. A consignment 72 head of Shorthorns, valued at <610,000, recently was sent direct to .America from Belfast, and 120 Shropshire sheep. *There is a considerable decrease in the number j)f sheep entered for the ■• annual ram fair of the Canterbury A. , and P. Association. SOuthdowns and Bomneys show an increase, but Corriedales and English Leicesters show considerable decreases. This year 3837. sheep will be submitted, as against 4287 last year. Some 2001b of whey butter per day "was being manufactured lately at the Edendale Factory. Formerly this went to-waste. By the Sydney steamer leaving at tWe end of this month, Mr F. W. Faireyj of Nelson, is shipping two bullocks to compete at the Sydney Royal Show in the fat cattle section against the pick of Australia. Very strenuous efforts' are being made by New South Wales Sowers to keep the championship, and r Fairey expects a very keen competition. The bullocks are entered under the names Maorilander and Maori King. Mr Fairey has not been at all unsuccessful with his exhibits in Australia. Mr E. Short, speaking at Feilding recently on the Panama Exposition and proposals for sending New Zealand exhibits, said the promoters of the Exposition had made«a fatal mistake in promoting a man from Kent as judge Of the Roniney sheep, says, the Feilding "Star." Kent was only thirty miles ; across, and a man from that county

knew every sheep ■which went; from there. It would be committing suicide for anybreeder from any other part of the woldd to take his sheep there. Mr Short fought another judge should be appointed to act with the Kent judge.
