Runciman, President of the Board of Agriculture, announces that experiments are being conducted in the matter of swine fever with injections of a serum. One hundred cases are - under observation. ON BEHALF OF THE BLIND. LONDON, March 20. The Lord Mayor of London is appealing for £130,000 on behalf of the "National Institute for the Blind, for the purpose of cheapening and amplifying Braille literature. The King, in opening the Institute, , strongly . supported the scheme. NEW ANAESTHETIC. LONDON, March 20. Interesting experiments are being conducted in London with urethane, an ansesthetie hypodermically administered, which dtfes not cause heart failure and after-sickness. The minimum period of insensibility is six hours. This is a disadvantage, but it is an impossibility to shorten it. The experiments are being conducted on animals.! HYPNOTIC SUGGESTION. Joseph Cook, Federal Premier, emphatically denies the statement attributed to Mr Finlayson, that one of the reasons of Lord Denman's resignation was that he refused to be coerced into granting a double dissolution.
