BOMB BY POST.
EXPLOSION WRECKS ROOM. OFFICIALS INJTJEED. By Cable. — Prett Association. — Copyright. MELBOURNE, March 16. Among the morning mail delivered at the office of the Lands Department was a package addressed to a member of the Closer Settlement Board. When the package was opened a loud explosion occurred, resulting in injuries to Mr Frederick Lee, a Closer Settlement Commissioner, Thomas Hastie, and Eeginald Jones. TJie room was partly wrecked. A window was smashed, and the ceiling shattered by brass bullets. The explosive material is supposed to have been dynamite, operated by a hammer spring and a percussion cap in a small wooden box. The package was posted at Sydney. I No theory is advanced as to the cause of the outrage.
