LETTERS TO THE EDITOR.
THE CANAL CONTROVERSY. To tho Editor of THE SUN. Moore's decision "not to reply to any more of my effusions"" shows that at last he is learning discretion. His last letter is so trans-. ; pareutly. ineffective that I 'am sure your read 31-s will recognise without further : assistance on my part that Mr Moore is i:nable "when cornered to back up with facts his:;reiteration of previously disand unsupported assertions, and he would have' been wiser.if he had not originally opened up the discus-sion.-—I am, etc., ' CHAS. ALLISON. March; 14, 1914. -_ "A SAD PEEDiqAMENT." To the 'Editor of Ti:3,,GtTN. agreeing in-- the. main with .your article-on Bel Fpdism in last night's paper, -yet' there ij one statement which emphatically proves | your, growth to be in.ih'at superstition' i and ignorance^— to find a better name ffor it, we shall call it "Churchianitv." Anyone who knows the ABC of "the Bible understands- that • " Church vanity'' is as different from true Christianity as chalk is" from cheese. Now, Sir, the statement to which I take exception is this: "Precipitate the millennium centurie3 before it was due." The millennium is a word invented by man. To the true Bible student it is meaningless..' But if you mean that what the 'Bible cajls "Heaven," or the "next world," or the u New Jerusalem," will take centuries before it is established on this earth, I believe you are certainly wallowing in the mire of ignorance. Which is a sad predicament for . the editor of- a. paper bearing such a -bright name-as THE SUN.—I am, etc., W. FITZHENRY.
