Y.M.C.A. FANCY FAIR.

The Fancy Fair organised by the Ladies' Auxiliary in connection with the; above Association was opened by her Excellency Lady Liverpool at 2.30 this afternoon. Her Excellency, who was aceom.; rpanied by Captain Eastwood,' A.D.C., was presented to the gathering by Mr Goss (President of the Y.M.C.A.). He expressed the gratitude of the Association to Lady Liverpool fpr her presence, and also spoke briefly on the work the Y.M.C.A. is endeavouring to do in moulding the lives of the young men of the community. He also mentioned that the members of the Association throughout the world now'number, over one million, and in Christchurch nearly one thousand. At the close of his remarks her Excellency declared the fair open, and stated that she wished it every success. The little daughter of the President (Sylvia Goss), then presented her with a lovely bouquet of pink and white roses. Later on the sweet stall workers and produce stallholders also made presentations to her Excellency, who inspected each stall with great interest, making purchases from every one. Various side attractions were featured, and to-night the amusement programme will include a basket ball contest, volley ball contest, musical entertainments, and an -exhibition of lifesaving, swimming and- diving by the members of the Christchurch Ladies' Swimmnig Club. Afternoon tea; fruit salads, etc., were served during the afternoon, and this department, in conjunction with all the other moneymaking devices in connection with the fair, appeared to be extremely well patronised. .;. Flower Stall: Mrs Overton and Miss Nairn, . Produce Stall: Mrs Gosse, Mrs Hislop, Miss Strainge, and the Misses M'Dougall (3). Sweet Stall: Mrs Evans, Mrs M'Kenzie, and Mrs Bingham. Tea Room: Mrs Royds, Mrs Jones, Mrs Stening, Mrs Croxton, and Mrs M'Ewan.
