CASHMERE SCHOOL.

At the monthly meeting of the, Cashmere School Committee, which was attended by Messrs M'Crostie (chairman), Murray, Paekwood, Manders, Andrews, and Mrs Speight, correspondence was read from the Education Board to the effect that Mr Johnston would act as relieving teacher in place of Miss Adele Hogdson, resigned, until a permanent appointment was made. Miss E. L. Doubliday was appointed to the staff as probationer. The resignation of Miss Hogdson r .as head mistress was accepted with! regret, and the secretary was directed to convey to Miss Hogdson the committee's high appreciation of spr services' since the inception of the school in 1907, and to congratulate her on the hig"h standard of efficiency she had maintained. A large number of applications were received for the position of head master, and that of Mr W. A. Stout, of the Heathcote school, was ! recommended to the board, along with I that of Miss G. Suckling, as assistant mistress. The relieving head master, reported that the roll number stood.at 96' (40 boys and 47 girls). A committee of''-ladies, with the chairman and secretary, was set up to arrange for a presentation to the retiring head mistress oni the afternoon of Friday, February 20.
