Miss Olive M'llwraith is leaving for England shortly, in charge of Miss Helen Denniston, to attend a finishing school, and afterwards to travel on the Continent. MissXGladya Griffith, one of the staff of the Rangiora High School, who is leaving for England shortly, was yesterday presented with a peggy J bag and book by" the students. Mr E. R. Good, on'behalf of the Board of Governors, also handed Miss Gr.iffi.th a letter of appreciation of her services. Mrs and Miss Orbell and Mr Ivan Orbell, of Dunedin, left last week for England, where they intend remaining for the next two or three years. Mrs James Hutchison, of Dunedin, wno has been visiting friends in the North Island, returned to the South this week. Two weddings took place at Napier this week, being those of Miss Daisy Winifred Knock, daughter of Mr and Mrs Charles Knock, of Napier, to Mr George Brooks, of the same place. Mr F. Elliott was best man, and the bridesmaids were Miss Madge Smith, of Pal- ' merston North, and Misses Rosie and Elsie Knock, sisters of the bride. The other wedding was that of Miss T. Although it is only February, those who head the social round are considering well the matter of dance frocks, and gowns suitable for other evening functions. In one of the big shops a very smart moflel.was recently seen in fuschia tones, the foundation being carried. out in cerise satin, veiled in purple ninon, the corsage and draped skirt being ornamented with gold lace. It was really a most sumptuous-looking garment, and, on the right wearer, would have created a most striking effect.
