GARDEN PARTY AT RICCARTON. Green lawns, bright flowers, and pretty frocks all contributed to the gay scene that was presented at 13 ? grounds of Mrs John Deans,- Riecarton, this when a Garden Party in aid of the funds of the Y.W.C.A. was held under the patronage of her Excellency Lady LiverpqpJ. . ' \ Her Excellency arrive* shortly after four o'clock, and was accompanied-by Captain Eastwood, A.D.C. 'Mrs Kaye, president of the YiW.CA., in a brief address, welcomed Lady Liverpool, and expj;ossed the appreciation of the committee for her Excellency's kind patronage and interest. At tho conclusion of MrsrK;:ye' % s speech, a tiny maiden in a daintily embroidered white muslin frock, presented her ladyship with a bouquet of pale mauve swoct peas. In the course of her reply, Lady Liverpool expressed her pleasure at being present at the function, and explained that she already had a-bowing acquaintance with the Auckland and Wellington of the Y.W.C.A. llcr Excellency wished the C'jristohnreii branch every success. Afternoon >te.t was dispensed at littlo tables luider tho trees, and the pleasure of tho afternoon was enhanced,by selections ..i'rqui a string band. Altogether tho function was most successful, and the proceeds from tho entciiainn.eht should amount to a not inconsiderable sum.
