The School of Art commences its first term on Monday, February 23. The exhibition of students' work will be reopened for three days, February 19 to 21, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Admission will be free. The Director may be consulted during the hours the exhibition is open. There are a few vacancies for free pupils holding the certificate of proficiency from the primary schools, and application must be made immediately. In connection with the exhibition, there will be a display of poster work executed by a past student, who has recently been studying at the Academy of Fine Arts at Mum-hen,. Germany. The newly-formed New Brighton Athletic Club is holding a 'cycle road race over a 12-mile course on Thursday, l!)th inst., at 6.30 p.m. Entries close on Monday, 16th. A meeting will be held at the' Fire Brigade Station after the race to appoint officers. , The Forth Bridge cost .£2,550,000; the Brooklyn Bridge, New York, £3,100,000; the Victoria, over the St. Lawrence, £1,700,000.
