MORE SHELTER WANTED.
t 1 • ' One of the complaints made by membera of the Locomotive Association, Jriio are now sitting in conference in Christchurch, is that the cab on the modern locomotive gives inadequate shelter ■ " We are not so well protected sat we were on the old classes of engine, 'I said some of the members. "■ln front of you you have the radiating heat of the boiler, and at the back the current of air strikes yon. There is protection of only about 2ft 6in on a modern locomotive, and we are finding that it is not enough." It was also stated that a large number of men suffered severely through the' draughty nature of the modern cabs. The Conference decided to make representations on the subject to the Dq» partment.
