LONDON, February 7. > Newspapers pay a personal tribute to Mr Munro-Ferguson as an independent politician and a strong Imperialist They congratulate the Commonwealth on the suitability of the appointment. The ".Daily Graphic" says it is stated the Government's land policy rendered Mr Munro-Ferguson 's continued support of the official Liberal policy impossible. His resignation had been foreshadowed in various quarters, as he was never in full sympathy with the Government. But for his opposition to. many provisions of the Scottish Land Bill he would have succeeded Mr Sinclair (Lord Pentland) as Secretary for Scotland.
