The Government; however; subsequently took the matter" tip, and rilade the arrange^ nients for sUet to be done. At a meeting of the e Committee appointed, the Chairman (H. M'CxJLLOCH, Esq., 8.M.,) announced that he had an interview with His Honor the Superintendent, and was informed that steps had been taken for the despatch of a search ship and the formation of depots for provisions, guns, and other articles likely to be useful in event of similar accidents on the various islands. A public subscription is being raised by the Committee to aid those who need assistance, and provide substantial testimonials for those who by ingenuity and perseverance contributed largely to the preservation of the lives of the wrecked.
