SHIPMENTS OF MEAT.

WELLINGTON, this day A review of the recent meat shipments from New Zealand and the future supply of tonnage was given by <jhe Prime Minister to your correspondent. He pointed out that the difficulty was not so much shipping as the fact -that the freezinß chambers were full or nearly so. "We live upon our exports," he added, "and it is a source of satisfaction to 'know that although there is this difficulty, our exports are being sustained at above the average. Five ships are at present loading meat m the Dominion, and two more, the Rotorua and Kumara, have arrived. Our exports of meat until the new arrangement with the Imperial Government up till Tuesday night amounted to tho following: Beef, 17,286 quartei-s ; mutton, 26,360 carcases ; lamb, 77,150 carcases. This was taken away by six steamers. Tho loading arrangements "for the month of April are as follows: lonic, capacity m carcases, 96,000; Arawa, 87,000; Pakeha, 104,600; Zealandio, 104,000; Turakina, 126,000: Muritai, 107,250 ; Hawke'a Bay, 120,200 : Star of Scotland,! 80,000; total, 824,450 carcases. >

The Prime Minister also mentioned that six steamers, of an aggregate capacity of 519,000 carcases, 'have already been fixed to load during May. ,
