A "stop work" meeting of the South Coast miners passed a resolution deprecating- putting wheelers m gaol for ab* senting themselves from work for a' day, emphatically disapproving of Judge Heydon's attitude m the suspension of the beneficial clauses of the Arbitration 'Act, and demanding that the Government shall amend tne law to prevent; a recurrence of penalising and gaoling members.

It appears that Evans, wearing a British officer's uniform with two, rows of ribbons obtained a cheque Dook and gave a valueless cheque. He claimed thai he was entitled to wear. the uniform.
