NOT WORTH £10,000.
CHANCELLOR'S SALARY. LONDON, Dec. 24. ; A Blue 'Book containing the evidence given before the recent royal commission to inquire into the causes of the law's delays has been published.- It shows tha<j Lord Haldane, Lord Chancellor, considers that he is not worth a salary of £10,000 a year. During a discussion on tho subject of judges' pension,' Lord Halduie, m reply to questions by Mr Frank Roberts, M.P., said that, generally speaking, £5000 a year was a very good , salary to pay aivybody for public servves. "You thimk nobody- wvrth more?" asked Mr Roberts. ! "T am inclined to think so." "Not even the Lord Chancellor " "1 make no exception." Lord Haldane is entitled to £6000 a year when he goes 'out of office by the resignation or defeat of the Government, or when he retires.
