I +. KILLED BY YOUTH WHO POINTED GUN IN PLAY. (Per Press Association.) INVERGARGILL, last night. An inquest was held on Lydia Frances Martin, married woman, residing at Kew, who was accidentally shot. | The evidence was to the effect that 'George McDermott, aged 18, employed ; by deceased's husband on his farm, had , been shooting with a revolver and pea 'rifle. I When he returned to the house he practised shooting at a target. After he had finished he pulled the trigger of the revolver about ten times to ascertail, if all chambers were discharged. I Mrs Martin was standing at the door and McDermott remarking, "I'm Buffalo t Bill ." presented both weapons m her direction, and pulled the triggers. j The bidlet was sent off, and Mrs Martin gave a cry and stacgered to the kitchen. The' bullet had struck her m the breast, and death' was caused by ; 'hemorrhage as the result of the bullet Avound m the aorta. ■ The coroner returned a verdict that deceased was accidentally shot by having a revolver pointed at her m play. A rider was added drawing the attention of the Education Board, the scoutmasters, and tbe Territorial officers tc the necessity of teaching young people ' that they must never point firearms loaded or unloaded at anyone.
