FOUNDATION CEREMONY. The foundation stone of the Heni Materoa Home at Victoria Township was formally laid) this afternoon by his Worship the Mayor, Mr W. Pettie m the presence of o, gathering of members and 1 supporters 'of the Cook; County Womens Guild. The new Children's Home is being erected under contract by Messrs C. His Worship declared the stone "well and' truly laid," a. number of interesting ■ records being placed m a tube m the usual way, comprising copies of the local : papers, photos of the Jthree promoters of the home, Mesdames Melksham, West : andi Scott, a photo of the first honorary doctor, matron, and three trustees of the ' Maternity Home, a record of the Creche Committee, and parchments containing : .the signatures of the committee, members, and citizens of Gisborne, with coins of the realm (King George issue). The stone bore the inscription of "Heni Materoa Home," togetnei' with ' the names of Mrs Townley (ex-Presi-dent), Mrs Maynard' (President), the com- ' mittee. the three original promoters, and that i\S was laid by the Mayor. Mr VV. ' Pettie, on May 1, 1913.
